Listening!
Yes, I know.
You are already able to listen right?
But are you listening?
Network marketing is a business of working with people.
And to successfully work with people, you need to effectively listen to them.
Listening is not hearing out what they have to say.
Listening is a skill.
A good listener helps the person who is speaking feel understood.
Once the person feels understood, they start to trust you.
And then they can listen openly to what you have to say.
So, what is the one skill you need to master?
Listening, evaluating what you heard, and then asking appropriate questions.
All to make the other person feel understood.
With that, you can easily establish a connection with almost anyone.
Good listening strengthens relationships.
And that is why listening is your first-class ticket to becoming a success with network marketing.
So if you have understood all that, here are some key points that can help you become a better listener:
Focus on the person that is talking, and try to maintain eye contact.
Go beyond just listening to the words they speak.
Notice their tone and facial expressions, and be aware of their feelings for the topic they are speaking about.
Try to notice all the things they are not saying!
Look out for cues that people want to disclose more of themselves and respond accordingly.
Perhaps by a short ‘mmm’, which expresses the wish to allow the other person to say more.
Or you can use short questions to prompt them to continue.
Use mirroring.
Repeat some of the words the person told you.
That will serve as an invitation to learn and understand more about the topic they are speaking.
And the last, but perhaps the most important one – reflect back.
Nothing makes a person feel heard and understood more than reflecting on what they said.
And you can do that by summarizing what they have been saying in just a few words.
