There are two ways to grow something.
Horizontally or Vertically.
Horizontal growth is all about bringing in more new stuff.
You grow horizontally when you expand into:
New product lines,
New service offerings,
Newmarkets or industries.
A very “horizontally integrated” company today would be General Electric.
GE is in energy, appliances, aviation, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, etc.
It’s a global company offering a ton of different things in a ton of different places.
But for the first 20+ years of its existence, all it focused on was vertical growth.
They dominated the electric/lighting industry in the late 1800s.
They owned the market.
From generating electricity, all the way to producing and selling the lightbulbs that were powered by it.
The depth they created in that vertical gave them the resources and experience to diversify horizontally
And they continued to for the next 100 years.
GE now does ELEVEN figures in revenue per year.
Digging their roots deep early, gave them the foundations they needed to be a powerhouse.
They did that for over a century and will continue to do so for another hundred years.
Their strategy is very contradicting to what I see today when people want to start their NMB.
Network marketing business is a marathon, not a sprint!
You’re not going to get good at everything and have a successful business…
If you can’t even focus long enough to build momentum in it!
Play the long game.
Hopping around from company to company or spreading yourself thin isn’t going to set you up for success.
Focus on one company and build your network marketing business around it.
Grow it vertically first.
Pick one product or service that your company offers.
Focus on the single largest problem it solves for people.
Acquire a certain number of loyal customers that need and want the results you are offering them.
Then repeat the same process for another product or service.
After you have done that for every product or service you wanted, you can start on horizontal growth.
Which is to pick super fans from the customer base you created.
And then turn them into distributors.
That way you will build a solid momentum for your network marketing business.
And most importantly build up a network of people and attain a certain reputation in your market.
Which will only make your life easier and your business bigger.
